Hugh Jackman isn’t quite done with playing “Wolverine” yet, but he’s already got someone in mind that could replace him. While promoting his upcoming film Pan in which he plays legendary pirate “Blackbeard”, Hugh Jackman was asked by MTV which actor he thinks would be a good choice to take over the role of “Wolverine”. Jackman is the only X-Men star to have appeared in every film in the franchise and will don the claws once more for 2017’s Untitled Wolverine Sequel. Though he said he didn’t want to make it too easy on the studio to replace him and joked they probably have already secretly been discussing who could take over the role, his choice would be Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy. Hardy already has one comic book character under his belt having played “Bane” in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises and at one point was set to appear in next year’s Suicide Squad for DC, but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. Hardy was also being eyed to star in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse as the title bad guy, but the role ultimately went to Oscar Isaac. In an interview with Collider back in May, Hardy expressed interest in taking on the role of “The Punisher” for Marvel, but once again he missed out with the role instead going to The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal who will make his debut in season 2 of the Daredevil Netflix series. As for taking over the role of “Wolverine”, at five foot nine inches, Hardy would be closer to how the character is portrayed in the comics, but at 38 and with Wolverine 3 not set to open in theaters until March 3rd, 2017, he’s already six years older than Jackman was when he starred in 2000’s X-Men. Of course, there’s no word on when or if we’ll see a new Wolverine on the big screen, but what do you think?
