While Man of Steel villain Michael Shannon attempts to disavow recent comments about “General Zod”, he may have inadvertently confirmed an even bigger rumor. A word of warning before we start, there may be Batman v Superman spoilers ahead, so proceed at your own risk. Now, we recently told you that Shannon had recounted a story to Vulture that he had gotten trapped on the set of Batman v Superman in costume and couldn’t use his fingers because he has quote, “flippers instead of hands”. This got many people speculating that we could see Shannon transformed into the deadly Doomsday in the film. Well, it looks like Shannon is now doing some damage control telling The Daily Beast quote, “Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous [b.s.] answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete [b.s.] story, right? But people took it seriously.” Despite appearing as a corpse in the trailer, Shannon went on to claim that he was never on set calling it a “really awkward situation” to be in the trailer for a movie he didn’t work on. Though he has yet to actually see the trailer, he says his appearance in the film is akin to Jor-El’s appearance in Man of Steel and will appear as more of a “ghost”. He does admit to doing some voice-over work for the film, but he didn’t actually get into costume. Shannon did go on to say he would be interested in working with Zack Snyder again even if that meant wearing flippers saying quote, “Maybe in Part 3, Doomsday will have flipper hands. I mean, look—nothing would make me happier than to work with Zack [Snyder] again, he’s hysterical and he’s a lot of fun to work with.” We’re not sure if Shannon is actually telling the truth about the original flippers story being false, but this quote does raise an interesting question. Shannon mentions “Doomsday” having flipper hands in a third film and not General Zod, which may have just been him playing to the rumor or could be him accidentally revealing his role in Batman v Superman. We’ll of course have to wait until March 25th to find out for sure, but what do you think?
