Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies Vin Diesel continues to update on the fate of Furious 8 and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver News Feed. It looks like Vin Diesel may have found the perfect person to direct the next Fast and Furious movie…himself! We told you earlier this week that Vin Diesel and Universal Pictures were planning to create a new Fast and Furious trilogy that would conclude the hugely successful franchise and that the search was on to find the right directors. Longtime franchise director Justin Lin was approached to return for the eighth installment, but the film’s current April 14th, 2017 release date would conflict with his current directing gig, next year’s Star Trek Beyond. Furious 7 director James Wan was reportedly offered “life-altering money” to return to helm Fast 8, but he decided to helm next year’s The Conjuring 2 instead. Several Facebook posts by Diesel since have suggested that original The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen could be in the running to return and helm part 8, but Deadline’s sources within the studio suggest that won’t be happening and the studio is instead looking at original The Fast and the Furious cinematographer Ericson Core or The Incredible Hulk’s Louis Leterrier for the job. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but a new Facebook post from Diesel suggests he may be the best person for the job…well, at least his mother thinks so. In the post, Diesel said that after he announced the release date for Furious 8, his mother told him quote, “Either you direct 8 yourself…or don’t do it.” Though Diesel didn’t say whether or not he was pushing to take the job, he did seem to be campaigning for it. He went on to say that the late Paul Walker had always wanted Cohen to direct another installment in the franchise which prompted him to campaign for him. Diesel believes Cohen would quote, “handle the Brian O’Connor issue with integrity” and also reset the franchise nicely and return it to its racing core. Ultimately though, he wants to make the best film possible and will leave the decision in the studio’s hands as he prepares to release his upcoming film, The Last Witch Hunter and begin production on the xXx sequel, “Xander Returns”. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but with three movies planned, it is possible Diesel could end up directing one of the films while Rob Cohen takes on another, but what do you think?
