We thought it would never happen, but Matt Damon is once again back as “Bourne” and we’ve got the photo to prove it. Production on next year’s untitled Bourne 5 is officially underway and producer Frank Marshall celebrated by tweeting out this photo of Matt Damon on the set with the caption, “First day of principal photography complete and happy to report, BOURNE is back! #Bourne2016” The scene features Damon looking ripped and ready for action as he does his best Fight Club impression in some far off foreign land. We’re guessing the scene takes place early in the film as we learn what Bourne has been up to since exposing Operation Blackbriar in 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum. The return of Matt Damon to the franchise is a big deal for fans of the franchise considering they thought this day would never come. Damon had long shied away from doing another film, previously saying he didn’t know where else they could take the story and even if they did, he’d only return if Paul Greengrass, who directed the two sequels, would helm the project. Despite Greengrass and Universal previously having issues, all parties managed to work things out and we can look forward to Matt Damon’s Bourne return on July 29th. The film will also mark the return of Julia Stiles to the franchise as well as new additions Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Alicia Vikander.
