Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies Speculation on Batfleck appearing in the Suicide Squad film has been running rampant for months, but now Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder finally confirms it…sort of. We know from set photos and the recent Suicide Squad trailer that Batman will play at least some role in that film, but whether or not Ben Affleck himself will appear in the film remains a mystery. In new interview with Empire magazine, Dawn of Justice director, Zack Snyder, wouldn’t confirm Affleck’s inclusion either, but did reveal that Batman single-handedly put all of the criminals locked up in Belle Reve there himself. Considering a lot of the Squad consists of Batman villains, we assumed that could be the case, but it’s nice to get confirmation from the DCCU’s ringleader. In addition to Batman’s role in Suicide Squad, Snyder also revealed that he was relieved to have the Caped Crusader appearing alongside Superman in next year’s Dawn of Justice denoting that Christopher Nolan’s movies cast a big shadow and precedent in tone for him and WB to follow that he wouldn’t want to try and follow with a new solo Batman movie. So how exactly does Affleck’s Batman fit into the larger DC Cinematic Universe and Dawn of Justice specifically? Snyder explained that Batman is clocking in around 45 or 46 years of age, with about 20 years of Batman-ing under his belt. Affleck chimed in too about the age of Batman saying that the idea of an old, weathered and mentally broken hero is what ultimately drew him to the project. Snyder elaborated on Batman and Bruce Wayne’s mental battle telling Empire quote, “Superman represents a sort of philosophical change. He is a paradigm shift for Batman: ‘I’ve been fighting criminals all my life, trying to find justice, and now I am confronted with a concept that is transcendent to me.’ In the face of Superman, a man robbing a bank doesn’t matter.” Sounds like the film will really deal with the God-complex the first film set up and that Batman will likely represent one point of view of the audience, while Superman will represent another. Snyder says whose side your own when the two fight will likely depend on your philosophical beliefs, but that’s not the only rabbit hole the director is taking audiences down. We also found out how deep the upcoming Suicide Squad and Dawn of Justice will take us toward to the road to Justice League. Snyder denotes that the whole of the DCU was conceived around the idea of eventually getting to Justice League, with each upcoming film, from Wonder Woman to Aquaman, supporting that eventual outcome. The DCCU conductor stressed that each director of those films is getting their own sandbox to play in, but that there are borders to this that they’re not able to stray from. That certainly sounds like how Marvel deals with their directors from what we’ve heard and that’s certainly not the only comparison that can be drawn to DC’s obvious rival, but Snyder isn’t paying much mind, saying they’ve enjoyed recent Marvel features, but their worlds have completely different tones.
